With a warm heart, I would like to share with the materials science community our newest preprint on introduction of the “ZIA phases”. The ZIA phases further elaborate upon the notion of nanolaminated crystalline solids, extending it significantly beyond the MAX phases lineage of initial transition metal carbides/nitrides. This expansion is highly likely to widen the universe of material’s properties into niches that are currently not addressed by the MAX phases.
This was my Director’s Fellow project here at the Los Alamos National Laboratory and I am really happy that the project is hereby 100% completed!
For curiosity, the “ZIA phases” are named after the ZIA indigenous nation of New Mexico, USA, where the Los Alamos National Laboratory is located.
