Problems in academic/scientific environments are not dirt to be swept under the carpet.
Scientists in formation — especially young ones like masters and doctoral students — are human beings, and deserve to be treated as such. Fairly. Integrity cannot be taught by those who do not practise it.
A problem buried under the carpet is simply the postponement of a greater one.
A true scientist will never close their eyes to the struggle around them, nor pretend it leaves them untouched. Indifference is the most unscientific attitude of all — in all circumstances of our lives.
We must remind that everything/everyone is somehow connected.
The suffering of one is the suffering of all.
